Chinook Sexual Assault Centre unveils new identity as Aurora

The Chinook Sexual Assault Centre is now Aurora. A new name and a new identity for the organization was unveiled at a noon-time ceremony attended by staff, board members, partners and supporters June 15.  “As our organization has evolved, we wanted a name that better reflects the breadth of our work and vision for the future,” stated Cayley King, Board Chair for Aurora. “While our name has changed, our commitment to address abuse remains steadfast. Aurora is the same committed organization, with the same dedicated team providing the support, advocacy, and care our community has come to know.” Since it opened its doors in 2019, the organization has grown significantly in both scope and impact. Opening as the first stand-alone sexual assault centre in southwest Alberta, the organization offered crisis support, system navigation, and public education.

Lethbridge Polytechnic researcher working with CSAC to learn more about digital gender-based violence

A Lethbridge Polytechnic researcher is working on a research project designed to learn more about digital gender-based violence. Jami Albright-Tolman is working with the Chinook Sexual Assault Centre on the project which aims to measure the scope of gender-based violence online.
